Pledge to Act on START!

Submitted by smoon@myglobalv... on August 2, 2010 - 3:49pm

Along with seeing the movie Countdown to Zero, we challenge you to take action in the campaign to eliminate nuclear weapons. The goal is to spread the word to friends and family who are not yet involved or have not yet heard about this campaign.

One key action this campaign focuses on the upcoming START ratification vote (August 4th at 9am in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Pledge To Act now! Continue to show your support by completing this easy step: add your name to this petition, urging  Senator Johnny Isakson to begin eliminating nuclear weapons by ratifying the New START Treaty.

The New START Treaty is an agreement between the United States and Russia to reduce nuclear weapons by 30% on both sides. This treaty creates a more transparent and stable relationship between Russia and the U.S. The New START Treaty is a follow up to the 1991 treaty and has been signed by Presidents Obama and Medvedev. This is where you become important. Tell your Senator why you think this treaty is important and urge them to ratify it.
